Seth proposed to Marla four years after they first met at Houston’s Day for Night music festival. The proposal happened during their annual tradition of seeing the iconic River Oaks Christmas Lights. Seth revealed a stunning center-cut diamond ring from Zadok Jewelers and asked the big question. Shortly after, the planning for their wedding was underway, only to be halted by the pandemic.

“Extending a nine-month engagement to a seventeen-month engagement presented many obstacles. However, navigating through them together helped us as a couple to grow even more,” says Marla. Their vision for the ceremony and reception was minimalistic and chic. Therefore, the couple went for a classic monochromatic color palette of black, white and gray.

On June 12th, 2021, Marla and Seth pledged their love in front of 120 guests in a historic hotel venue in downtown Houston. For the ceremony, Plants N’ Petals designed an elegant chuppah made out of tall acrylic pillars and classic florals. In addition, pure white cascading orchids and dried Italian Ruscus adorned the chuppah. Overall, the couple’s favorite moment of their wedding day was sharing their vows. “We wrote them ourselves, separately, and we loved how well they mirrored and complemented each other,” Marla said.

For the reception, glowing tealight candles sat in mercury glass votives surrounding the floral centerpieces, which sat on elegant tall glass risers.  The centerpieces had classic white hydrangea, dainty spray roses, and blooming garden roses. A fun-lit neon sign that read “Better Together” hung behind the bride and groom’s seat. After enjoying a buttercream, amaretto and Italian cream cake, guests ended the night with the couple’s “EDM Hour.” Everyone danced to electronic music with custom LED wands before the newlyweds set off to their Hawaiian Honeymoon.
