A Romantic + Sentimental Wedding at The Corinthian Houston

Photographer: Ama by Aisha | Venue: Corinthian Houston

This couple’s story could have been plucked straight from the pages of a romance novel. Ashley and Cory first crossed paths at The University of Texas at Austin, but life and circumstances kept them apart. It wasn’t until they swiped right on the Bumble dating app that they finally met and discovered they had 37 mutual Facebook friends. Then, the two realized they had much in common over a taco date, and their love story began.

Just two months into their relationship, the world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, Ashley and Cory grew closer through loss and lockdown, and their love flourished. During this time, they took road trips, strengthened their relationship and fell in love. In July 2021, on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina, Cory proposed to Ashley on a morning hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The couple wed on April 2, 2022, at the Corinthian Houston, decorated with stunning emerald green tones and rich pink and red florals. Not only was their wedding a celebration of their love, but it was also a beautiful tribute to Ashley’s late mother, who had passed away from cancer in April 2020. The bride incorporated her mother’s wedding dress from 1983 into her own, and they married on the same day her parents were married. Cory sang to Ashley as she walked down the aisle. The bride says, “He is a talented singer and put together his own rendition of ‘Best Part’ by Daniel Caesar & H.E.R, and ‘Blessed’ by Daniel Caesar. There was not a dry eye in the room!”

The couple celebrated with their friends and family and did a “second line” exit. From missed connections to a modern love story, Ashley and Cory’s romance is a testament to love’s power and timing’s beauty.
