For Crystal and Michael, friendship has always had a special meaning. Once their relationship turned serious, Crystal took Michael to meet her family in California, where, to Michael’s surprise, she introduced him as her “friend.” Crystal hasn’t been able to live it down from that moment on, which brought a light-hearted and fun twist to their wedding day.
“The endless product delays and discontinuations, venue capacity restrictions and travel restrictions forced Mike and me to focus on our future and not get caught up on the details we could not control,” says Crystal.
On April 25, 2021, Crystal and Michael wed amidst 170 of their close family and friends in a sunshine-filled chapel surrounded by a grassy field beneath a beautiful blue sky. The flower-filled spring wedding in a cheerful color palette of sky blue and various citrus hues resembled the colors of a Texas sunrise. Crystal walked down the aisle wearing a dainty flower crown to meet the love of her life as guests excitedly rang cowbells and popped fire cap guns when they were pronounced man and wife.
The reception radiated joy as rays of sunshine streamed through the windows, and vivid pink and coral streamers hung from the glowing chandeliers.
An ode to the bride’s Italian heritage, the dinner menu was “family-style” with flatbreads being served to the song “That’s Amore,” and a mini engraved charcuterie board greeting each guest at their seat with artisan meats, cheeses, rustic bread and crackers, fruits and nuts. Guests dined on Prime Rib with Horseradish and Crunchy Onions, Parmesan-Crusted Breast of Chicken with Tuscan Sauce, Redskin Mashed Potatoes, and Roasted Asparagus.
Dessert consisted of vibrant peach-colored macarons and three delicious cake flavors, including a lemon cake with blackberry buttercream, funfetti cake with vanilla buttercream, and lastly, blue velvet for the groom’s patriotic cake with vanilla buttercream.
After an exuberant evening of dining and dancing, guests were encouraged to snap a polaroid in front of a photo backdrop decorated with vibrant paper flowers handcrafted by the bride. Each guest was also gifted a handmade friendship bracelet with a personalized message tied to Crystal and Michael’s noteworthy “friend” occasion and a homemade bundt cake.
