Rika and Kartik’s love story began in West Palm Beach, Florida, where they both did their medical training and soon started dating. Having grown up in Brooklyn, Rika had always loved New York City, so it was only fitting for Kartik to propose in Times Square.

The evening before the wedding, a fun and festive sangeet was held at the downtown Houston venue Ballroom at Bayou Place. On August 25, 2021, the couple had an extravagant Hindu wedding full of vibrant colors, traditional Indian rituals and an abundance of music, dancing and delicious cultural food at The Corinthian. The groom arrived in a Rolls Royce convertible for his Baraat while hundreds of guests paraded the streets around him, waving bright pink smoke sticks.

The ceremony was spectacular, decorated with an abundance of white and blush florals and greenery. Every wedding detail was extravagant, from the intricate beading on the bride’s attire to the fog that filled the room. The bride notes: “I wanted the wedding to be a full sensory experience. I wanted the guests to walk in and smell all of the flowers and hear the string quartet before seeing the beautiful decor…this was a dream come true for me.”   A fun reception with dining and dancing followed.

Rika and Kartik’s favorite moment was their quiet and intimate first look. Rika says, “Everything was above my expectations, and it was truly magical.”
